The guide presented here will help you “play” (the verb we use for participating in a game) in the freeform Age of Aquarius. The organisers are available to explain anything that you need to know.

• When you arrive at the game site, look for the Registration area. It will be in a prominent place close to the game play area. At the Registration desk you will find a few organisers. They are fairly obvious since they will be wearing AoA insignia. Go and talk to them.

• At Registration you will be asked to pay the entry fee of $10. This is to pay for our photocopying, prizes, transport, phone bill, web site, props built, printing etc. You cannot play if you do not pay. If you have no money with you (strange as that is) then talk to the Organisers who will help you (by suggesting you loan off someone playing). We give no discounts, we take no promise to pay laters.

• After paying, you will receive your character sheet and any other important items you might need to play. Your character is detailed in the Character Pack:- an A4 plastic sleeve containing many sheets of paper. A listing of the characters being played by other players at this session will be on the “Appearing at this Session” list at the Registration desk. If there is any problem or important info you need, then you will be directed to an organiser who will assist you. Otherwise, you will be sent to the Game system desk.

• At the Game system desk, you will receive your skill cards. After visiting the Game system desk, you should go to your starting area. Every character in Age of Aquarius belongs to some group or another, and your start area is written on the “This Session is” page, which should be at the front of your character pack. Finding your starting area may be hard if you don’t read the signs, which are printed on yellow paper. There will be a Site Manager who can direct you to your start area.

• Once you are at your start area, the game has not yet begun as far as your character is concerned. It begins when the organisers give the call “Action” - you can then interact and play the game with the other characters present. We suggest you use any wait time to introduce yourself to unfamiliar players.

• The game itself will occur for a few hours. There will be an intermission half way through. At the end of the session a video debrief for every player will happen, and we will party and socialise. We order take out half hour before end of session so we can all eat. This is not included in the entry fee, but with lots of people ordering will probably be only a few dollars each.
